This 2017 single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc was machine harvested from a vineyard down the Waihopai valley in Marlborough.  25% of this wine went through a wild ferment and 100% went through natural malolactic fermentation. 15% of this wine was barrel aged and then bottle aged.

"Complex, ripe and pure fruit scented bouquet. Aromas of fresh white peach and preserved lemon, fresh tropical fruits of pineapple and green mango then apple and fresh herbs. On the palate - textured, fruity, varietal and spicy. Flavours reflect the nose with a spicy acid tang, wet stone mineralogy and lengthy salivating and lightly salty finish. Well made and ready to drink upon purchase and through to 2023."  94 points.

Vintage details 

The growing season was a test to put it lightly. The weather in lead up to harvest was near perfect, vines were healthy, drought hadn't dried things up too severely. Sauvignon had vigilant vineyard checks  and very close monitoring to ensure the fruit was harvested on flavour. Despite the stress of it all, the finished ferment pre barrel looked amazing. So no complaints. Luckily.
