This 2016 single-vineyard Chardonnay was hand harvested from a small vineyard on the Wairau in Marlborough. Grapes were hand harvested, whole bunch pressed and fermented in older French barriques. 25% of this wine went through a wild ferment and 100% went through natural malolactic fermentation. We only made 1248 bottles of this.
Cameron Douglas MS
A lovely expression of Chardonnay on the nose. The combination ofripe pure fruits, barrel and bottle development presents a bouquet with complexity and allure. On the palate- the ideas presented in the bouquet come alive with textures and flavours of grapefruit and stone fruit, white tree fruit and oak tones. Again the bottle development has allowed harmonies to arrive adding complexity. Nice weight and balance, excellent acid line and just the right measure of oak, smoke, toast and spice. Well made and ready. Drink now and through to 2023. 93 Points.
